Thomas Szkopek

Thomas Szkopek is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University, where he has held the Canada Research Chair in Nanoscale Electronics (2008-2018) and HydroQuébec Nanoengineering Scholar Award (2015-2017). He has contributed to the fundamental science and applications of graphene and other 2D materials for over a decade. His work includes the development of graphene based pH sensors, acoustic transducers and microwave devices, and numerous fundamental studies of charge transport in hydrogenated graphene, black phosphorus, tin selenide and other 2D materials. His work has led to the formation of several start-up companies in the Montréal area. His contribution to mentorship has been recognized with a Carrie M. Derick Award for Graduate Education.
