Ian Hill has been a faculty member at Dalhousie University since 2003, where he has served as Acting Dean of Science (2015-2016) and Associate Vice-President, Research (2016-2018). Prior to joining the faculty at Dalhousie, Ian was NSERC Post-Doctoral Fellow at Princeton University in the group of Prof. Antoine Kahn, and worked as a research scientist at the US Naval Research Laboratory, in Washington DC, and at Stanford Research Institute International (Sarnoff Labs), in Princeton, NJ. Ian holds a BSc in engineering physics, and a PhD in physics, both from Queen’s University. Prof. Hill research interests include next-generation electronic materials and devices, including thin-film solar cells and sensors. He was one of the first to study and manipulate the interfaces present in organic semiconductor devices and was instrumental in research projects demonstrating early large-area OLED displays and active matrix displays driven by organic thin-film transistors. He has published more than 100 scientific articles and 7 issued patents that have cumulatively been cited a more than 8000 times (July 2018)
